Kid-Friendly
Allergens: dairy, eggs

Ingredients(for 1 glass (approx. 200ml))

  • 1 cup Condensed milk (sweetened)
  • 2 cups Fresh milk (full cream or low fat)
  • 2 Egg yolks (large)
  • 3 tablespoons Sugar (adjust to preference)
  • 4 Cloves (whole)
  • 1/4 teaspoon Nutmeg (freshly grated if possible)
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla essence
  • 1/2 teaspoon Lime zest (finely grated) - optional
  • 2 Cardamom pods (lightly crushed) - optional

Instructions

  1. 1

In a heavy-bottomed saucepan, combine fresh milk, condensed milk, and sugar. Place over low heat, stirring continuously until the sugar completely dissolves.

    5 minutes

Do not let the mixture boil; gentle heating prevents curdling.

  2. 2

Add the whole cloves, nutmeg, and cardamom pods (if using) to the milk mixture. Continue to heat on low for about 5 minutes, allowing the spices to infuse their flavors.

    5 minutes

Stir often to prevent the milk from sticking or burning at the bottom.

  3. 3

In a small bowl, beat the egg yolks until smooth. Temper the eggs by gradually whisking in a few tablespoons of the hot milk mixture, then slowly pour the tempered yolks back into the saucepan, stirring constantly.

    3 minutes

Tempering prevents the eggs from scrambling and ensures a silky texture.

  4. 4

Continue to cook the milk mixture over very low heat for another 5-7 minutes, stirring constantly, until slightly thickened. Do not allow it to boil.

    7 minutes

Remove from heat immediately if you see bubbles forming.
